For UK TV in Europe. The best solution is the Internet, using FilmOn, or better still a SlingBox, which will connect you via the Internet to your Freeview, or Sky/Virgin Box that is located at your home.
In reality though, wi-fi at the campsite pitch can be a trial.
Satellite is what we use, 1m Dish works for us down at Frejus, an 80cm would work as far down as Lyon, Northern France then a 55cm Dish would suffice.
Spain can be difficult, Freesat reception almost zero, whilst the Sky subscription channels can be had on an 80cm Dish.
Some parts of Spain though, even a 2m Dish won't bring home the bacon.

G7ACU, in relation to your mates aerial and mast kit from tool station, is the pole strong enough, by that I mean its not a flimsy pole? I ask as I am considering fitting an aerial to my van, which has no aerial at all at the moment, and was originally thinking of buying a status 335, then changed my mind to a status 620, as reviews suggest the Omni aerials are crap and directional are better, but I don't want to spend a fortune, did your mate have to add a signal booster also? and last question, the signal finder meter, do you have it connected inline constantly or do you only use it when setting up, only asking as I'm not very tech savy with this sort of thing
