I bought a cadac safari chef a few weeks ago, its the lp version and i have been using it with a 3.9kg propane bottle.
I was thinking of getting the different regulator and using the disposable canisters.
Will i notice any differance in performance using these.
Thanks
Phil

I would like to ask the same question but for the Cadac Carri Chef 2.

Phil, there is also the Cadac power pak that attaches to two cannisters. I'm not sure whether to go for this or the single HP regulator. I would prefer the single cannister for nights away and trip to France because I don't want to take the big heavy LP bottle. But like you, I am not sure if it will mean a loss of power.

I think you'll lose power...

And maybe pressure too due to it 'eating' the gas faster than the liquid changing to vapour in the canister....

They're my thought anyway.... Could be wrong though.

Hi, I just bought a Safari Chef 2 and used it at Easter.

Go Outdoors only had Campingaz regulators so I got one of those along with a R901 refillable cylinder. This worked really well but soon realised there's hardly a more expensive way to use gas.

Another £15 on t'interweb got me an EN417 regulator assembly. This connects basically to anything except Campingaz, in particular disposable cylinders. This suited me well because I have a bunch of Parasene canisters from when I though weed-burning was a good idea. But EN417 gas is very easily sourced (Coleman, Cadac, many other brands, lots of Ebay websites) and a fraction of Campingaz refills.

Tried the new regulator out and no problems at all.

Safari Chef complaints tend to come with the High Pressure version, in which the cylinder screws directly into the cooker without a hose. The different burner seems not to be so good. LP version hugely superior, fine bit of kit.

The "power kits" consisting of an adaptor for two cans don't give more power or heat because the regulator pressure has to be the same for big bottles and little cans (it would be dangerous otherwise). They'll just last longer because there's twice as much gas. I think they just part us from more money.
