As far as I'm aware there were two main reasons some of these stoves exploded both caused by miss use and not reading the instructions which clearly state on both of mine (expensive one and Cheapo one) do not use a pan larger than the outer stand ring and make sure you have turned the the flame stand ring from its storage position to its use position, as far as I know it is impossible to light the newer models with out doing this as they now have an inbuilt safety catch to stop the gas supply until fitted properly.
But I suspect like everything some fakes will still get through so just be aware
