These are the rock pegs I now use for all ground conditions. They have double hooked orange tops and threaded shanks which makes them easier to withdraw if they get stuck (just twist them). I generally place them on all the main guys and the main stress points of the flysheet (corners etc.). I then use ordinary wire pegs for guys that just form the shape of the tent or hold open a vent etc. At one time I just used the cheap wire pegs all round with no problems except I got fed up with them bending and having to straighten them out. I have also used the Outwell type plastic pegs but they tend to bend also when hitting a stone...so now it's just rock pegs.

Which ones are these Bob? Are they orange one from blue diamond?
I purchased my original ones from a campsite shop so they didn't have a makers name. Foolishly I gave those away when I sold a tent and had to buy some more from eBay but the ones from eBay, although the same style, had red tops rather than orange and weren't quite so good (the tops break). I intend to change them for orange tops as I need to.
The photograph came from Amazon but they are shown as no longer available. I don't think the Blue Diamond ones are quite the same.
I have searched and These are as close as I can get to the original orange ones.
We use the ones that have the nut shaped top,I hammer(rubber mallet) them in,and screw them out of the ground with my drill, obviously you need to treat any peg properly,If you use normal rock pegs, and haven't already got one,a peg puller is invaluable in certain conditions.

Has anyone used pegs like these? Rhyas Heavy Duty I bought some earlier this year but haven't tried them yet. They look pretty butch.
These I normally use and are great, but not for Caravan Club Hardstandings, grass and are also ok on CCC Club Hardstandings
