I bought a used Thetford 165 toilet but I can't work out if I need blue and pink chemical or just blue or just pink. Any advice please

normally blue in the bottom half as it helps break down paper etc. Pink in the top where the flush water goes

The pink one (for the top tank) isn't really essential.

The blue (or green) preferably eco-friendly* one for the waste tank is more important.

*insisted on by some sites.

The 'Pink' is a flushing agent that goes only in the top tank and the 'Blue' is a decomposing agent that just goes in the base tank. There are various brands on the market that have their own specific aroma which some prefer by choice of smell but personally we much prefer the Elsan brand in comparison to Thetford.

And for loo paper which breaks down easily, no need to buy the expensive ones from camping shops, just get the cheapest supermarket economy brand ones.

I was told by my dealer the easy way to remember this is the lady boss in pink is always on top smelling nice. The boys blue is in the sh1T tank on the bottom..

Made me laugh and hard to forget.

Just ordinary economy loo roll is fine, we use Tesco everyday value one in our Thetford loo. You don't want any of the quilted, thicker stuff.

So ...

I have narrowed it down (lol) to between Blue Diamond products and Blue Bio ...

Blue Diamond do a non formaldehyde one called Unochem as well as their green and blue ones.

Blue Bio is formaldehyde free and good value, too.

Any recommendations between these? Or another brand?
