1.2w doesn't sound much. You'd be lucky to charge a calculator up with that.

I also seen them in Aldi today but 1.2 watts is not much use at all really as I have a 13 watt solar panel which produces about 1 amp every hour which is basically as much use as a chocolate fireguard in terms of camping needs.

aldi panel not. designed to charge. fully. just to trickle charge whilst not in use ie whilst your van in storage I have just bought one seems a decent piece of kit for price will post update once I have been using it lead acid batteries don't like not being charged and as we all know let them go completely flat and you can sling them in the skip

I have some similar 1.5w panels, they are OK for small SLA batteries that are stored in the shed. Prevents them draining but little more.

You maybe OK if you only draw enough current for a gloworm of an LED.

If its just for a stored but disconnected battery then a 5w panel will be OK. If its connected with an alarm etc then something bigger will be needed. If its for a battery in use then 50w upwards. I had a pair of 25w panels connected to a pair of batteries (200ah in total), Luckily we got plenty of sun and i moved the panels to get the best position.
