I've been sat around waiting to have something to say that is worthy of these hallowed pages, not quite sure I've managed it but hey ho!!!
Could you (the members) in your wisdom recommend a trailer for us to use on our camp holidays, preferably not pink
It would also be used to transport bricks and building materials in my daily job! And also the ocassional small livestock oh and maybe the wife & kids!
We've had an Erde 102 trailer for the last year or so and have used it for camping duties as well as the odd DIY task (sand/cement/boulders/double divan bed and mattress) and it has performed brilliantly. I think it was on a special offer at Halfordsat the time so I got the trailer, spare wheel and bracket, luggage cover and number plate all in for under £200.
Not bad at all and would definately recommend however I'm not sure how it would stand up to daily use for carrying bricks/livestock/family etc!
One of the best buys I ever made was my 6' x 4' boarded utility trailer made by Burton Trailers Burton on trent Staffs. It was 2nd hand when I bought it from them for £150 in 1983. Its still on the road but only the towing and running gear are the originals as I have rebuilt it three times since then. Last rebuild it got almost enbtirely new steel work as the old had rusted away and I replaced the softwood tongue and groove boarding with plywood.
I used it first to take camping gear to Brittany and was able to take everything we needed, it seemed so big. Then I found all the other uses and now its my carry-all for building materials for my business.
My Advice is to pay as much as you can afford for the biggest you think you will suit your needs. You will find uses and space to keep it and it will repay you well.
We have the Daxara 157. Got it second hand out of the paper. Paid about £275 for it. 6' x 4' aluminium, ABS locking lid, spare wheel, jockey wheel etc etc etc.........
Fantastic buy (over a grand brand new) tows like a dream, don't even know it's back there!
But the biggest / best you can afford!........you wont regret it.

We have the Erde 122 400kg trailer from Halfords, with the ABS locking roof that gives extra space, spare wheel, and jocky wheel. Next I'm after the roof bars next so we can add an additional roof box on top too... Great trailer for camping, oh you can get the bike rack for it too. Recomended!

we have the Erde 142, great for camping and more frequently trips to the tip. If I'd charged my mum what it would have cost her to get a man in a van for every trip I've made to the tip I'd be MEGA rich
Haven't been around in a while so it's nice to be back. I am thinking about the Caddy trailer but am very unsure what size as I will probably buy online. Any advice ? We have a roofboxon a Focus hatch, Vango Vista 8 person, fridge etc etc.
I liked the sound of the Caddy which apperas to be easy to take apart for storage.
Thanks for the advice folks, we are going for the one from focus at £149.99 it'll do to start with, just got to sort a towbar out now ! how hard are the diy one to fit ?
If your car is after 1998 then fitting a towbar should be no problem as the are now E approved,I fitted mine to my Passat with no problems in a morning including the electrics. If you go to the Brink website then you can search for your car and if they do one you can download the fitting instructions and assess how hard it might be
