Since having knee ops, I amnot as steady on my feet as I used to be. Exiting the van on unevenground using the traditional two step steel tube four footed steps for me could lead to a fall. I want to replace the steps with something more substantial.
I have ebayed and googled but have not found my ideal choice of steps yet.
Would appreciate any information on this subject.

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?

Hi..
Unless you go for something quite large and hefty("fabricated"?), most steps will seem unsteady when on uneven ground.
Even if you had something with adjustable feet, they could still soon "settle" and become unsteady again.
If you've already got a step(s) of a useable height, could you not just look at increasing the "footprint" of each leg?..and including some pegging-down eyelets?
Something like one of those folding handrails fitted to van, wouldn't hurt either.
we have the Milenco ones as well. Very stable and big foot rest areas. blocked off at the risers so your foot won't slide through if wet. We stapled 2 thin rubber mats to the treads last year for our elderly dog when he wasn't so good on his feet. They're quite wide so a bit awkward to stow in the caravan but not a huge problem.

You won't regret it. We got these after SWMBO knees started to play up. I like that you can step out of the van with confidence that they aren't going to tip or you foot will be on edge and tip you over, especially if you are carrying something and can't see easily. I find I have to tip them on the side to get them in the van though.
However, as with other plastic steps some care is needed on hard surfaces where there is a possibility of slipping
