before I start I know this comes up time and time again, so I apologise in advance. I have read the article posted on camping electrical cables (too late mind you) and its very informative. before I head out and buy another one I just want to make 100% sure that I have definitely bought the wrong cable.
I have checked where the campsite where we are heading to for a weeks holidays and the electric hook ups there are 10 amp. I had bought this last week thinking I was on the right track but it doesn't look so...

if anyone could confirm if I have bought the wrong one or not that would be great.
That one is not suitable for either a tent or a caravan.
If for a tent it should incorporate an RCD and MCB's in a suitable enclosure, as stated in the previous post.
I would return it for a refund as it does not comply with regulations.
As above, the one in your link doesn't have any MCB or RCD protection.
If you need it for a tent, you want one like these (and preferably with a cable longer than 10metres - 15m would be better, 20m better still, but make sure it's all unwound before use), or if you want a lead for a caravan (which should have its own on-board consumer unit) a simple cable like the one shown here with blue plug and socket.

damn ebay!!!! yep, we are tenting so that's me in trouble so. I honestly thought I could run it in to the tent (its a 6 man) via the small opening to allow in power cords. back to the drawing board so I guess.
You have not totally wasted your money. Buy the RCD protected hookup unit linked to. Also get one of these then cut off the plugboard of the non protected unit you have now & fit the socket in the link & you have an extension cable to use with the RCD protected unit that you will have to get.
..and although these ehu leads may be stated as being 16A, best to make sure that the cable is actually 2.5mm and not just 1.5mm as is sometimes the case.
Although aimed at caravans & motorhomes, this is still some interesting info:
