Hi, some years ago we saw a wooden pole wind break where the poles split into two pieces for transporting but not been able to find them now. We are about to downsize our car and our current wind break poles are too long to fit in the car but don't really want a shorter height wind break. We've tried the metal pole type but never been successful with them. We thought about cutting the poles and using a connector of some type but not been able to find anything suitable. Can anyone help with either option.

If you know a good plumber you could ask him if he has any 28mm copper tube going spare and use pieces of that to rejoin the ploles

you could cut poles in half and drill hole in one half about 2inches deep to take 3/8" rod.
Then drill other half 5/16" same depth then heating a 4" long steel rod at one end push into 5/16" hole 2" and dip in water to cool and seize on rod. when erecting wind brake just push rod into other half 3/8" hole and knock in usual way, I would suggest putting 3/8" hole in top end of pole that pushes into ground. Buy 99p brush handle to try first and use 6" nail for rod if successful cut poles and make. let us know if successful.

About 8 years ago I used the double ended screw connectors that are used on long curtain poles with no problems.
