Our Isabella awning is being visited by a feral cat/s on the site. 2 big problems
1. The smell of urine is so overpowering, it smells like it is in the caravan when the windows are open. I cannot even work out where it has had a wee, it's like it has power sprayed the place. Worried about cleaning because of the waterproofing - can I use a normal enzyme cleaner?
2. If I get it cleaned- how do I deter it or prevent it happening, the cat is known to visit the site, there are a few feral ones around here.
Why doesn't the owner ask RSPCA (or SSPCA in Scotland) for a live trap & get the cats the Cat's Trust, who never put down a healthy cat. Or neuter it / them and return to the site (which would cost a small amount). There'll be more feral cats if not.
The cat is male and marking its territory and this largely stops if it's neutered. It is an eye-watering smell for sure. We used to use some bicarbonate of soda topped by white vinegar (it foams) then rinsed with water (for dog equivalent).
If the smell lingers look for a product called. "urineoff". We have two Burmese who occasionally spray and it's the only thing we've found that really works
thank you everyone, some good practical advice and a laugh. We have got some stuff from petashome to get the stink out and some urine off to boost it, some vinegar and bicarb and a deterrent. Smells good. Now for the supersoaker......
Fill some clear plastic bottles with water and lay them around the outside of the awning, not sure why but these tend to scare cats off. I used them quite a lot when abroad and it worked fine, a liberal sprinkling of ground pepper also works.
The super soaker only works if you are a good shot LOL. We have 2 cats living one side of us....and 1 the other. The single dweller has been no problem for years, making me think that the 2 newbies next door are the culprits. They have sprayed up every tall plant in and around the garden. With the obvious result being those plants have died. I am now instructing the supersoaker operator, on how to actually hit the darn cats.
I stopped cats coming in my garden by planting bottles in the obvious places where they entered filled with ammonia, to a cat this is lion or tiger p**s one sniff and there off its one bloody huge cat that made that smell.
