Well I would say the shape would differ, plus a kettle bbq would be better suited to charcoal than wood- although both I suppose, could be used. Also more importantly, a kettle bbq would have a lid- where as the fire pit only has a mesh cover for log burning to stop spitting.

we had a round one with our bell tent but when we changed to a pyramid tent figured square was more practical than round so sold it and bought one of these:
It takes up about as much space as the round one but should cook more on it, will be testing it next week
