Hi all, after taking ages to get the BBQ going to cooking standard last time we used it, I'm looking st getting a chimney starter. Does anyone know if any smallish ones or something that folds down? As always, space is a premium!!

Weber do a smaller chimney starter LINK

We've actually got both this one and the larger one. They both just work!

I've done the following modification to my Go Anywhere to allow the chimney starter to be stored in the BBQ itself. YouTube video

Hope this helps!

Paul

Hi Paul, so did you saw the top rack in half to make it fit like that? Handy that everything is in there together.

Yes. I used an angle grinder to smooth out the sharp edges, but a hacksaw and file would do the same job.

If anything goes wrong, replacement racks are only about £12.

Thanks to wardley17 for the tipoff about the Clas Ohlsen chimney - got one and used it for the first time today - wow! Best BBQ ever! Lit with just newspaper and was ready to cook in about 30mins with good, even heat. Will be great to use on camping trips.

Tempted by the Clas Ohlsen one now! They didn't seem to get good reviews initially though.
After spending an hour each time waiting for the bbq coals to be ready last weekend, something is needed. We were quite "merry" by the time we started cooking!!

With all chimney starters you need to be careful tipping the coal onto the bbq as if you are doing a lot of coal the handle can get hot . But a starter does make a difference to start up times .
