Does anyone think it would be possible to use a bike rack to carry extra bags or box/container. As there are 5 of us in the car we don't have much room. I would be for the main tent bag or the beds to be strapped onto while driving through Europe.
Thanks for any advice :)

Bikes are not very heavy so the bike rack is not designed to carry a lot of weight.
There are one or two countries in Europe who ban the use of bike racks to carry bikes so I'd imagine they would not allow you use either.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

Would not even entertain it, accident waiting to happen, in fact I would not even use one for carrying a bike!
