Hi folks,
we are looking to get a television for our next camping trip and don't know what we need, is it best to go for a 12v telly as we normally go with a 12 v leisure battery to power most of our kit or go for a 240v and electric hook up?
also what aerial do I need and would it require a pole to mount it or are the small free standing jobs o.k.
Does anyone have any recommendations on price ?
all advice gratefully received .

You won't get many hours use off the battery alone as I presume you are also using it for lighting as well.So best go for mains and go on a hook up pitch.Unless you are right near a transmitter which is very rare you will need an aerial and pole mounted.

We got a Cello 15.5" LED TV although not advertised as 12v they are and come with a mains adaptor.

I think satellite is best for camping, and for UK a small Dish like the Arcon Sweety and SelfSat Flatt panel are ideal.

The SAB Titan Micro is a 12v and mains satellite receiver that is the size of a fag packet, and can also be used as a PVR.

We use a Humax 320gb Freesat PVR, it's getting on now but works fine, and you can find them on eBay for next to nowt.

Although the Humax is a Twin Tuner satellite receiver, it works fine of a Single Feed, even if you still want to record.

Bought one off the small standing aerials didn't work, might just have been unlucky. Bought a reconditioned TV with DVD player ( came with 12 months warranty) just thought I didn't wanted to spend too much in case I wouldn't survive camping, also had a roku box so basically just steamed everything as aerial wasn't working.
