Had an email from   this company advertising a new product, a light for your caravan hitch, so that you don't clatter into it whilst pitched up on a dark site.

Won't work with a hitch lock in place and not a replacement for it.

I seriously doubt their statement "but it also surpasses the need for an additional security ball."

Surely it will work with the hitch lock for an Alko 3004 hitch. Don't see them saying it's a replacement for a lock.

You ain't going to get two balls in the hitch.

At the end of the day it's a light.

Most people protect their hitch when on site with the covers, never walked into our caravan hitch before so don't really see the need for it, it's just extra to carry.

Personally I don't see the need for it either, but someone in the household seems to think it's a great idea.

You can use it with a hitch cover on, or at least so it says.

£1 LED from the £1 shop instead?

No security rating for it so probably no good for most insurance companies? Add to the fact its plastic how is that supposed to prevent the hitch being used and replace a proper security device?

A product that could have done a lot more if they had asked caravan owners.

I suppose you could ask Alko the same thing about their ball that fits in the hitch.

I don't think any insurance company asks you if you fit a ball in your hitch, so has no bearing on insurance needs.

A nice idea and as blueexpo has alluded towards, it would simply replace the red plastic Al-ko ball, that they supply to fit in the hitch.

But ... £20 for a single solar lamp !?!

£20 does seem an awful lot for a single plastic solar lamp... I'll just keep putting one of my 'cheap' lamps near the hitch

The hitch as got me a few times over the years i must admit.
Normanally after a pint lol.
Would i buy one as my hitch is mostly covered.
It would work as you could still cover the hitch.
Nice to be differant but i feel a Waste time.
Others may disagree .
