The issue with awnings is that the actual pitch can make a big difference.
We have a 390 awning and over the years have found that lifting that side of the van gives a much better fit.
Only an inch or two required, but it fits nice and tight and had no issues even on a windswept pitch on the Cornish coast. Went to bed and the winds picked up, looked out a few times and all was well, woke up in the morning and thought wheres is my mates awning. Seems his didnt do so well and he took it down during the night.
