Hi all...

We had a bit of a look around for some replacement chairs at the weekend. We're not after anything too fancy(as they're only for use at the tent/van when at festivals).
But we saw and sat on some of these:
http://www.charliesdirect.co.uk/wild-camping-amberley-high-back-chair
(the blurb says they don't recline but the ones we saw did)..and they seemed okay.

Has anyone had any first had experience of them(or the "brand")?

Although we don't really want/need to spend OTT, we also don't want to waste money on cheap "tat".

Any thoughts?..

I bought a couple of very similar chairs in Lidl recently, 2 for £50, having tried out various other much more expensive ones in camping stores. They are very well made and comfortable.

Thanks for replying..

Yes, these seemed pretty well put together, with quite decent fittings, brackets etc and with nuts'n'bolts, not pop rivets..

(Some camping chairs we saw, even quite expensive "branded" ones, were little more than the cheap, basic,"umbrella" type of folding chairs, only with a fancier, more padded covering! )

So I think we may take a punt on these.
Thanks

Hi Pepe ,
We bought the similar chairs in Lidls 18 months ago.
They are very comfortable and sturdy but we have noticed (not sure if the same on Badgers) there are nylon type bushes on the side support bars which have all but one halved and come off,, didn't really affect the chairs though..I just replaced them with hard rubber washers.
Don't want to sound smug , but we won the Outwell chairs and table competition on here two months ago.
They are very comfortable and dry incredibly quickly if left out. Our Lidl ones are now backup on the decking .
Fair play to Lidl's they sell some good bargains.

Hi Greg
That sounds encouraging.
re: the washers- I don't really mind a bit of "running repairs" or "beefing up"...

But our "2 for £15" Millets chairs from 6-8 years back, although still in good nick, are now not doing our backs any favours....
( ..but we're away in the mornin' to a music festival in Devon for the weekend, so we won't be getting anything 'til the weekend after, at the earliest...so a bit of bad planning there....).

I am afraid as I get older I need a good chair or I really pay for it.
Millets used to be a good outlet back then ,sounds like you had your moneys worth.
Enjoy the music !

Just to update this:

When we eventually went back to get those chairs(2 weeks later, as I had forgotten that we were actually away for the two weekends ), they had gone up a tenner(to 45 quid). So we left 'em.

We have however just ordered these:
Yellowstone Vector Chairs

They do look a bit cheap'n'flimsy but for the price we'll give 'em a go.

I have similar chairs and find them comfortable but my wife, who is short, finds the front edge of the seat cuts into her legs so has to us a cushion. They are quite heavy and take up a lot of room in the car but part from that, no problems.

Thanks for the feedback Bob.

'a bit annoyed at myself for not getting the first ones I linked to, when they were only 35 quid each ..but I thought these at 15 each, have got to worth a go..

Their storage-size isn't really an issue as they'll just go *in the roof box.
(*either that or in the bottom shed, if we don't get on with them! )

I think I paid £20 each for mine on Ebay several years ago so 15 quid has to be a bargain.

Unfortunately I stored mine in the bottom shed and even though they were wrapped in polythene they went mildew and smelled awful...so I washed and washed them in every conceivable chemical I could think of and now they smell of every conceivable chemical I can think of and have been consigned to the attic! I am back to a canvas fold up chair at the moment. I will have to retrieve them from the attic at some time and see if the smell has gone

Well, they turned up yesterday and they don't seem too bad.
They are comfy but I can envisage the material(which is a soft, plastic-y mesh), could get quite hot?..I suppose, nothing that a towel won't sort if they do tho'..

Thanks for the heads up on yours getting mildew, Bob.

I am on the look out for 2 new chairs, we currently have the cheapy umbrella ones - which will be okay for the kids but would like a bit more padding and the ability to recline -whilst not taking up loads of space in the car!

Any recommendations?
