I have a portable camping fridge, power = 150w with a 12v 'plug' so it can be used in a vehicle. However it also came with a plug inverter which adapts it to a 240v plug (normal house plug).

Does this mean it will only require 0.6 / 0.7 amp to run?

I have never been on a site with a 6amp restriction before, so just not wanting to cause any problems.
Along with the fridge, it would be occasional radio use, & occasional phone charging.
any advice would be appreciated....

Hi 6 Amp is usually fine for a caravan to run its fridge ,heating fan & lighting but do not try to use an electric kettle or hair dryer at the same time as you will trip the mains.For what you describe you will have no problem

6Amps is a fair old chunk of power. Around 1500watts or 1.5kW. We have a small 1kW kettle which will work on that but most are around 2.2kW so too much.

You fridge draws only 0.6 amp & your hookup is 6amps so you also have ample capacity to charge phones & use a radio which are also very low drain.

To draw a high current think heat, ie electric kettle or fan heater. With a 6amp ehu you could run a fan heater only on low setting & kettle not at all.

Hello, just remember watts divided by volts = amps. So 150 / 240 = 0.6 something just over 10% of your available power :)

cheers for the quick replies, I just wasn't sure since it was using the adapter to convert the fridge from 12v to 240v

The promised supply on some sites varies. We noticed it when the last site filled up and our evening lamp was dimmer than usual.

Thats down to volt drop when the site is busy.
