SO I am looking at buying a new double mattress for camping my choices from reviews are either a aerobed dual chamber airbed, or a 10cm outwell dreamcatcher.

I genuinely have no idea what is best, i have only ever slept on airbeds so any advice is greatly received.

For me it would a quality SIM over an airbed every time.
Airbeds off virtually zero insulation against the cold coming up from the ground.
I have an Outwell Dreamboat and an Exped Megamat and they are both really comfortable.

There are single air beds that are insulated. They are made for backpacking, pack up smaller than any sim and offer a higher level of comfort. Vaude norrsken or the kelty air mats are examples. The only double insulated one I know of is the big Agnes double z.
We tried out a kampa kip bliss two weeks ago.
10cm, comfy but not insulated. We bunged a double karrimat under it and no cold came through. It also didn't move when OH rolled over.
I have the vaude norrsken and the kampa bliss and wouldn't go back to a normal airbed or a sim.

We have the raised Areobed as both of us have back problems as the extra height makes it easier for us to get on and off. We do have slight cold issues but with a bit of insulation underneath that's not a problem and as you are used to standard air beds I find it warmer than these. I can't give an opinion on sims as I've never used them.

Love my aerobed - tried a few SIMs and never got on with them. I insulate underneath with foil back camping mats, and then on top with a fleece blanket and never been cold. Also never had a problem with deflating.

It is personal preference really.

I have had an aerobed - a nice one - and now I have a 12cm Dreamboat.

I used to think the aerobed was comfy but, like Jon Snow, I knew nothing.

SIM no question about it now!

No turning back to airbed no matter how expensive/reliable it may be, now that I have experience the bliss that is camp bed + SIM.

SIM wins hands down for me - I've got a Kampa widebody 10cm and it's the best nights sleep I've had camping, just use it straight on the floor

Aerobeds for us. Bought two singles a few years back (they don't make this particular model anymore) and they have been so comfortable, especially for my wife who suffers with a bad back and is very particular about any kind of mattress.

We like the fact that the singles are also extra wide so you're never at risk of rolling off. This is partly why we went for two singles rather than a double.
