Handrail comes with fixing screws which are simply driven into the caravan wall via a pilot hole. Has anyone any experience of this unit please? My caravan is a Lunar Delta which has a door fly-screen. Is the fixing secure? Is it necessary to fit a steel plate on the inside of the caravan and bolt the handrail on? This would require the fly-screen to be removed temporarily!!
Advice please before I get the drill to my new prize possession.

I believe that the handrail comes with a mounting plate already supplied in the kit and if any wall furniture is directly behind the hand rail there is a frame mounting kit available as well which you most likely have to order from Milenco. See details of the Milenco hand rail in the link below.

Thanks tango55. My handrail is the 'safety' version not the 'security' version. It does not come with mounting plate.

I take it that it's the one in the link below but no constructive information on installation in comparison to the security hand rail.

Milenco Safety Hand Rail

I would be inclined to give Milenco a call regarding fixing this specific hand rail and see what their advice is as the caravan outer skin is only thin and not robust enough really to support a hand rail.

Thats my thoughts, although the fixing is close to the edge of the door so more substantial material may be there. I will try Milenco again tomorrow. Cheerrs

It looks as though there is a design problem with this unit's fixing recommendations. Milenco tell me today that as the unit is very new these problems may not been thought through completely. I suppose this is a warning to others who might be considering purchasing the Safety Rail!!! Milenco support apologizes and suggests that a remedy may be forthcoming in the future!!

Not much help really if you have already bought it!
If you have plain sidewalls ( i.e not dimpled ) I have been using one of those plastic suction handles designed for use in the bathroom. They are about a tenner and work very well.
