One year, I took a small T.V and video player for those early nights, for my son. I bought cheap Films to watch. I did enjoyed watching them myself all cosy in the tent.

We always take the tv but my advice would be, dont bother with the areial, its just too hit and miss out in a feild getting reception. A lot of sites now have aerial points on the EHU post and hire the leads to connect to your tv. We take the smaller size tv with built in DVD player, and watch dvd`s if bored in the evening. Usually find a charity shop and buy some sort of dvd we would not usually watch at home for peanuts. Or stick some programes on a memory stick and watch them as most new tv`s have the port in the back to plug them in.

I have got one of these
It works fine on most camp sites although I have to plug in an external aerial to use it at home.

Bought a reconditioned TV DVD combi plus reconditioned roku box (so you can stream most channels, got portable WiFi) did buy a standard indoor Ariel but didn't work, hence the reason I got the DVD combi just in case all other failed. Really just got it for those raining days where there isn't a lot you can do

I have watched telly in the tent for many years ! Sometimes I can get a decent signal off just my mag mount on the car or sometimes an aerial on a pole (fixed to my trailer) and a signal booster. But as already said some sites provide TV Hook-up leads. The only thing I will say though is be mindful of your volume as you may think it is not too loud but you would be surprised if you realized how much the sound carries !!

When we had tents we always took the tv the vision plus blade aerials work fine on a pole but mounting the pole may be difficult for some campers we had a box trailer for the equipment, I fixed 2 hooks to the trailer the type you use in a shed for hanging up tools and I fixed the aerial pole to them always worked perfect

Satellite is perfect for camping, the SAB Titan Micro receiver is about the size of a fag packet, and for UK use a small flat panel antenna like the SelfSat or the diminutive sized Arcon Sweety Dish are perfect.
TV wise we use a Cello 15.5" which packs away small, for the audio we use a combination of wireless headphones and wireless earphones so not to disturb other campers.
The wireless earphones are great, as I can wander around the campsite listening to satellite radio, in fact I use the satellite more for radio than TV, so the TV itself is often not set up.

Our TV in a tent eventually malfunctioned and as I was about to ditch it was told by my tame repairs man that the problem was probably a damp circuit. Placed it on top of the heating boiler for a month. Bingo, working again.
