We are very pleased with our two Isabella Shadows, a 3.6 and a 4 metre. These can be put up or taken down in very quick time and are light enough to stow in the van.
We sometimes use one on each side; our 4 metre has the optional "net" front for coping with low sun angles.
The 3.6 metre was purchased in 2002 and given excellent frequent service and still looks reasonable.
Have a look at obelink. Even with the cost of postage they are cheaper. We bought a tencate material one and the quality is great. They have a few different styles, materials, with poles, without poles etc. Easy to price up exactly what you need.
We have had 2 fiamma caravanstore canopies. One 4 metre and our latest is the 4.4 metre, got side panels too. Fantastic piece of kit in the sun and very mild breeze. Not designed for strong winds.
Sits on the side of the van in its own bag to travel, arrive on site roll out, legs down and peg out job done less than 10mins.
3 poles & sheet works for me. It's Tencate canvas sheet the length of the caravan roof with awning beading along one edge & eyelets at each end & in middle along other edge.
3 adjustable poles with 2 guys on each pole to form pitch roof shape along front.
We get brilliant use of our 4.1m and you can add sides if required (although the we have not currently as we would use either this or the awning).
We have had it up in quite heavy rain and the material is very good. I would point out its not made as a rain cover it is for shade but as it is a plastic coated type material we have no worries of drying.
another vote for the caravanstore
My parents had one and regret selling it in favour of an awning. We bought one this year to go to france with so we had shade for the dog, and my parents have just snaffled it to go off on their 7 week tour of france and spain
------------- Doing whatever the rice krispies tell me to.
I bought one from Peak outdoors last year and it's a great piece of kit, you can find them on Ebay (Multi Purpose Picnic Canopy Car Caravan VW Campervan Motorhome etc)
sorry unable to do the link thing but if you search the above you'll come across it.
I use it on the caravan and the van. Only takes a few minutes to set up and at about 80 quid you can't really go wrong.
