Wondering if anyone owns one of these air mattresses.

They do a 6cm and a 9cm version, any info would be appreciated.
Very little info online and can't find R value anywhere?

Very nice looking and similar to my vaude norrsken which has an R value of 2.8 – 4.7 (depending on length)

Thanks Ewen..as you say they look up for the job. Not really many reviews online though. I had a Robens Verve 2 tent and was really impressed with the quality.
Even Robens website does not give R values?

Maybe send them an email.

I'd try sending them a mail.
Looking at it again, I'd say they are probably comfier than my norrsken as they have horizontal baffles rather than the long traditional ones on the vaude.The vaude pump pillow will fit on that valve. They are very handy pieces of kit. Don't want damp air from your mouth getting inside a mat.
I've long preferred these types of mat over sims for comfort and packability.

Yes they are really small pack size compared to the standard s.i.m's.

Robens replied to my email within 30 minutes, the 9.0 version is rated at 2.1 and the 6.0 is 1.8, so quite low R values.

I normally use my Thermarest ridgerest solite ( R value 2.8) below a SIM anyway. So I imagine that would also help.

I guess it's down to preferences... and priorities.

My SIM (Exped comfort 10LW) has an extremely cosy R value of 9.5... but then the pack size is probably OTT for your needs. They're not exactly compact!

Agree with Ewen re damp breath... we use the comically named (to some!) schnozzel, to inflate our SIMs, which is excellent... easy and quick. (Obviously also being Exped, it automatically fits our SIM valve). Not sure how that would work on other brands/valves though?

We bought a couple of the Vapour mats this year. We've found them great for summer use. Very light and we both found them comfortable.

We're out again in a couple of weeks for a long weekend walking along the South Downs. Might get a chance to try them out in cooler weather - though we wouldn't use them in the winter.

I do have a Thermarest Neoair Voyager and it only has R value of 2.2 and some other Thermarest sim's and the highest R value is 4.3 which I find ok.
I am looking for a regular size,small pack size like my Thermarest Neoair but with a higher R value.

Mucker.. I did look at the Expeds and although expensive they are an option.
I have a similar "schnozzel" device, its the Thermarest Neoair tap pump. Apparently the battery ones are rubbish.

JasonAndclare..yes I agree the vapour mats are more summer type mats as is my Neoair.

I had also contacted a very well known outdoor store who is selling these Robens sleeping mats and got a reply this morning.
It said that after speaking to staff, no one had ever heard of the R value and maybe this air mattress was too technical to have one..lol?

It's amazing how little some staff in the big chains know about their products.

I was in Cotswold Outdoors in London the other day, trying on rucksacks. I wanted to try on an Osprey Exos 48 in the large size. I was rummaging around the stack of bags, checking the sizes when a member of staff just finished helping someone else and asked me if I needed help.

"Do you have this one in Large?", I asked.

"This is a 48 Litre bag, we have bigger if you need more room." he said.

"No, I want this bag in the large size."

"It's a 48 litre bag."

I then showed him the tags at the back of the bags with the size and torso lengths on them. It was the first time he'd seen them, he wasn't aware a rucksack could come in different sizes.

This was from a member of staff that had just "expertly advised" the customer before me, found a bag that she was happy with, then just grabbed one of the same model off the rack for her to take to the till. No idea what size he gave her.

Must admit I didn't realise that rucksacks with the same capacity, design and model came in different fit sizes... but then I don't sell them!

I'm gonna look into that next time I'm in GO... and maybe have a little fun with the sales assistant!

I got this second email from the retailer about 30 mins after the first one I mentioned above.

Morning,

Robens are not including ANY R values throughout the range and they have not even got these on the 2017 stock. However Outwell are adding it to the self inflating mats next year.

This product though is classed as an airbed and not self inflating mat.

Hope this helps.

Hi..Robens will be including R values for their 2017 airbed stock being made now, I have just received an email from them confirming this.. The Prima core 6.0 will have an R value of 1.8 and the 9.0 will have an R value of 2.1...I do realise these are airbeds, the same as the type Exped and Thermarest make, which all have R values...regards john
