We purchased a 12 volt fridge and run it off the mains via a transformer box with a cigarette lighter that is connected to the plug socket. At the end of the month we are off again, this time with no mains electric. The question is, can I connect directly to the battery and where would I get a cigarette lighter connection with crocodile clips at the other end.

You can connect most of the 12v coolers to the car battery, but only do so whilst the engine is running otherwise within 3 or 4 hours the battery will be so flat the car wont start.

have a look here, you can get most of this gear at halfords or any good caravan-camping outlet.like what has been said,if you connect direct to the battery it will run down fairly quickly.the only otherway is a jenny

In reality you need to be looking for a fridge, these cool boxes are for keeping picnics cool, never understood why people try to camp with them. if you have hook up you can cope (they are poor fridges really though ona hot day they are pretty useless)

If you go mainly to hookup sites a small mains fridge would be Ideal and cheap enough, if off hook up 2 way or three way is the only serious solution.

I have a full size mains fridge in my campervan and can wild camp for a week or more, BUT I have an 1100 ah Battery bank (10 X 110 ah Batteries)
