Hi, I'm just about to press the button but not sure whether to order the Kampa pro rally 200 or 260. My caravan is 7.17m shipping length and 5.51 internal length. I have a full awning just now but want a porch awning for early and late season. My problem is I can't visualise the size of awning on my caravan. I want it to be big enough for 2 chairs, small table and a dog and want space at one end of the caravan to be able to sit outside but out the wind (sorry if I'm not being clear). I don't see the point of a large porch awning so don't know if the 260 will be too big.

Can anyone advise/give an opinion please?

We have a Rally Pro 260 and a 390. In the 260 we can have a table and 2 chairs, a camping fridge, a table with electrical cooking appliances, a wheelchair, a pile of junk and sometimes 2 bicycles. The bikes make it a bit cramped but there is still just enough space to eat at the table. The 390 copes with all that and leaves quite a bit of extra space.

The 260 is a great size awning and the Rally Pro is a very good quality awning with lots of extra features which make it very useful. We only bought the 390 because we changed caravan and the 260 would have fitted over a window which was something we wanted to avoid. I can put the 260 up on my own whilst the 390 needs a second person to help feed it in to the awning rail.

We also now have a 200 air awning from Kampa although it is not branded as Kampa. We only use it for short weekends and it seems quite cramped compared to the 260 but I think it may be big enough for your needs.

I would mark out the size of the awning on the garden or sitting room carpet and work out where everything would go and allowing space for door opening etc. I would also check which awning would fit along the side of the caravan without obstructing any windows, hatches or vents.

Whichever one you decide on I would also recommend getting the rear pole set and monsoon poles as well as the storm guy set, our 260 has been up in a couple of Force 8 gales without any problem though I would have taken it down if I had seen the weather forecast before the storm hit.

Hope this helps and I haven't confused you too much.

Rob

Thanks Rob, so you think I would get a small table, 2 chairs and a dog in the 200? The 260 sound massive if it can hold all that. I don't want something that is only a bit smaller than our full awning but want to be able to sit in it.

I think you might find that you can get your table and chairs in a 200 but it would be a bit tight for space because of the space needed for the caravan door and the awning door. The 260 would be a lot more comfortable as you would have enough space to move around easily without having to move chairs each time the dog wanted to go out for a wee.

Our caravan is a similar size to yours, the 260 would only take up half the length of the caravan. I think I would go for the 260 if it fits ok as it would give you a lot more options, it wouldn't take any longer to erect and wouldn't cost much more. If you get a 200 you may feel that you want a 260 as well by the end of the season.

Mark out the size like I mentioned above, put the furniture in it, allow space for the doors to open and see how well it works.

Rob

Thanks Rob, the furniture is all up at our van so not able to try out. But I've looked at photos online and the 200 does look fairly small. If the 260 is about half the size of caravan that's what I want, I should have enough outside space to sit in the spare bit. It's only about 2 feet bigger than the 200 so it should work. I'll order the 260.

I've got a photo of a 260 awning on a Bailey 550-4 showing how much space it gives on the caravan, obviously I don't know where the windows etc are on your caravan but it'll give you an idea.

I'll try and put the photo on my profile so you can have a look.

Rob

Photo is now on my profile, the one with the windbreak, the Ranger has our 260 awning on it but I don't have any better photos handy.

Thanks, that was a good help. I'll go for the 260.

I used to have a 390 awning. just purchased a Kampa Pro 330. Easy to erect on your own. Used it over Christmas for the first time. ideal.

we have the 390 air and a 330 poled. the 330 is ample for anything and it might just be the size you want after sitting in a 260. no disrespect to rob and tina as im sure theyve been very helpful

Thanks, we've saw the size of the 260 and it is the right size for us. Any bigger and we'd be as well with the full awning up. It really only is for a couple of chairs, dog, boots etc. And mainly so the dog doesn't bolt when the caravan door is opened lol.   In April the full awning will go up.
