There was a topic on this not long ago, with comments for and against all types of extinguishers,I have both, blanket for chip pan etc fires, and an £8 1ltre Lidl dry foam one for general,I have a smoke alarm and a co2 alarm also,to be honest,I don't want to find out if they're any good, caravans go up like tinder,so I think I'd just do A runner if it looks like it's getting a hold.

The water mist fire extinguisher looks very interesting. I'm going to look into this one further. Thanks for suggesting it.

I would consider a fire blanket too though.

Only draw back with water mist is the operating temperature of +4^C and Like AFFF (Foam) must be protected from frost.........

I still Favour the big RED bucket filled with water as

A) its cheap
B) its light and easy to pack
C) if it gets used you can refill it immediately
D) its got very good quick fire knock down....
E) If everyone on a camp site had one like they used to on some club sites you have 30 pitches with 10 litres of water on each thats 300L of water at instant disposal
F) if you use it on someone Elses caravan you dont have to try and extract £20 from them to replace your fire extinguisher people are grateful that the fire is out but not usually so willing to stump up the cash after...... Especially once the smoke clears and they find a blue or yellow powder residue in every locker / cupboard ;)

OK water shouldn't be used on electrical fires But then again having done a fire fighting course you should disconnect the power first anyways as if an electrical fault has caused the fire its going to ignight again

And if its gas burning let the begger burn and get away if you cant turn the bottle off / isolation valve

Pan fire a fire blanket is king....

I carry

A bucket
A fire blanket
a 2L AFFF foam extinguisher

oh and the caravan club has this

http://www.durhamcentre.co.uk/fire-alert-mo.pdf

but

"Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) – Class A, B and F"

is crap advice.....

There is only one AFFF extinguisher on the market that i know of with the Class F rating

Normal AFFF is NOT to be used on Cooking oils or grease

Was a the Scottish caravan show last weekend and this impressed me enough to buy it (show discount given) Small, light weight and really impressed me. I also have a red fire bucked outside at the front of the hitch keeps a few tinies cool and is a talking point. Fire bucket not recommended for electrical fires. Also have a fire blanket in the drawer next the oven.

This appears to be it for the UK market.
