I don't know the prices but when I had a small caravan I used Fenwicks Top and Tail. It is (or was) a nice smelling fluid which was environmentally friendly. A little goes a long way and the bottle lasts ages...some in the flush and some in the base.

Bear in mind that if you are only camping for a couple of days at a time no fluid is going to break down the solids totally so why use the stuff? All you need is a small amount in water to make it smell pleasant.

If it's just to make it smell nice
I've heard on another forum we use that people use bio tabs in the loo for both 1s and 2s
But just for number 1s they use a cheapo fabric softener

Be careful what chemicals you use because many campsites insist on environmentally friendly fluids and anything else can harm their system.

If you are only using it for a wee, then just use the pink stuff, which is cheap, Its the blue one thats got all the harsh chemicals in, for breaking down solids. Most shops will sell eco friendly loo flush if you need to go down that route at some sites. But otherwise just get the cheap pink fluid. Aldi will do one soon, which is what we use.

Yeap, we use it too, superb and as some sites require an eco friendly type cleaner, we just take this one. That blue one reminds me of cub scouts...yuck!!

Couple of scoops of biological washing powder which you probably have at home anyway, works a treat

...but don't agitate it too much or you will fill the loo with bubbles.

I have one of the kamp khazi type loos for when my young nephew comes camping. It's a bucket underneath rather than a flush portaloo. I line the bucket with a bin liner, put a small amount of cat litter in the bottom to absorb any liquid or smells. To empty I just knot the bin liner, pull it out and it goes in the normal rubbish bins
