Hi all was looking at building up a portable satellite system. I have read a lot about aldi and lidl satellite some love them some hate them. So rather than waste money buying one when there on sale then upgrading parts I thinking on a self build. What I got just now is a Sky satellite dish smallish but it's still on house wall so can't give exact size. Anyway my 1st of possibly loads of questions is could I use the Sky dish along with a sky receiver to get satellite. Or could I use dish along with another receiver. No idea what I am doing yet but I learn quick especially hands on. Just need point in right direction.
Thanks for replies guys. Freesat will be enough so guess ditch sky box. What about sky dish that also useless? And what type of box should I look for trying to this very cheap. And will only be used in Scotland mostly.
Normal Sky dish will be fine with Freesat, although I would go for a Multimo Sweety or SelfSat flat antenna.
As for Freesat box, you can't get much better than a Humax, we have one that also provides Freesat+ with 320gb Hard Drive, handy for when there is no satellite signal.
Having said that, if I was buying now I would go for the Stab Titan Micro, it's not Freesat, but will give you all the Freesat channels as it is a FTA reciever.
