We are thinking about buying a table top fridge. Will we damage the fridge if we use it just for camping, we don't really want to keep it plugged in at home 24/7. We have an electric cool box which is good, but we're really coveting this fridge we've seen.
Mine is currently in the wardrobe awaiting our camping trip after Easter. You need to make sure it is clean and dry and that the door is left open. We always travel with it upright in the boot and have never had a problem.
We only camp a couple of times a year as we have a caravan on a seasonal pitch. We sometimes use it in the caravan awning for cold drinks but it is never left on when we aren't there and is stored at home over the winter.
No problem when not in use, in fact it may even extend the life of the compressor.
I know Table Top fridges are cheap as chips, but we went for the Mobicool C40, OK it was £139 inc shipping from Obelink, but it has been a brilliant unit, and for us a top loader works better for camping, also the embedded carry handles and overall footprint make it IMHO more suited to camping duties.
Definatley the C40 has been one of my better purchases.
We had one of these for seven years .... with tents, then a folding camper. Travelled upright, fully loaded with all sorts of things, so as to minimise space waste .... plugged in fifteen minutes after setting up at campsite, never failed ... fantastic benefits: ice cubes ... space for full sized bottle ... small freezer compartment ... couldn't have done without it ... and really good value at 75 GBP.
We also converted from an electric coolbox to a table top fridge, as could never keep stuff cold enough in a coolbox got a brand name (can't for the life of me remember what name tho) one from Aldi on sale last year. Travelled with it upright as others say in the camping trailer. Stored in our bedroom at the moment waiting for its first outing. As
Ronnie said, make sure you keep clean and the door open or it'll start to smell. Also, comes in very handy at xmas for extra food/bottles!!
We got the Aldi one last month. Nice piece of kit.

We bought a table top fridge around 18 years ago (might be 20). It travels in the car/boot upright and has been to France at least once every year and has not failed. We keep it in the garage. Two years ago we bought another on a 'special' from Argos for £49 - as we thought the original one might give up in the near future - so we now have a choice, though the new one is a bit lighter.
