Hi all ..I have brought a mini oven last year from Aldi. And wondered if anyone has tried it out whilst camping. I thought it was a good buy and would work well in the tent for cooking different things other than on the top of the stove. It's 1380w and the make is ambiano
Any advise would be good... thank you
Should be quite good. At that wattage it will draw around 6amps, so make sure you have an adequate supply. We have a different make of mini-oven with a slightly lower wattage, and it's great! Comes in very handy at times.
That's good news than thanks for that. I had already thought about the amps to be safe I said I would only use the cooker and nothing else at any one time
I got a transit-damaged Dualit mini oven on the cheap a couple of years ago and it's one of my most used bits of kit. Get a baking pan that's a couple of inches shy of the internal dimensions and you'll be able to do great little roasts. Also good for fish in foil parcels, jacket spuds, ready meals, pizzas etc and toast / bacon / soss in the morning. And it can get you out of trouble if you forget to pack the fan heater.
I used mine for about 4 yrs whilst tent camping. Really good and could cook enough for a family of four.
I bought an extra baking tray (from somewhere like Tesco) which was small enough to fit in the oven...it gave me more cooking space.
Only stopped using it when we bought the van as it had one.
I have used one in a tent and found it ideal for all the reasons given. Check out the sizes of them though because some of them look big on the outside but you will be lucky to get more than a couple of slices of toast inside...ok for one person or maybe a couple but you need quite a big one if you have a family.
They also get very hot on the outside particularly at the top and back so keep them away from tent walls or anything than can be harmed by heat.
I certainly did PB. A chilly spring weekender was going rather badly until I put the oven on to cook. Suddenly the tent was warm and everything cheered up!
