Hello all,

I've been reading posts on here for a while but haven't felt the need to join in. Now though I need some advice! I've been waiting with frustration for an online retailer to send me my order of outwell camp beds, sleeping bags and camping chairs for 3 weeks and despite much chasing it appears no closer to being sent!

As such I give up! So... who has had excellent service from an online camping supplies store with a decent selection of stuff? Recommendations gratefully received....

We've bought quite a lot of stuff from caravanstuff4u.co.uk. The prices have always been good and orders have arrived very quickly after ordering, less than 24 hours when we ordered an awning. We have also bought from them at shows and they are all friendly and knowledgeable.

Our nearest camping shop is Attwoolls in Gloucester. They have a huge amount of stock and big ranges of sleeping bags, furniture etc as well as tents and awnings. They are very helpful and although we have not ordered online I'm sure they offer a good service. Their shop prices are often lower than Go Outdoors.

Who are they? Have you paid yet? What reason have they given? Online orders these days should be dispatched & delivered within around 3-5 days. I suggest you stick with the big well known retailers like Go Outdoors. Many online sellers have nice websites but are no more than resellers working from a private address. They carry no stock & order from a wholesaler for delivery as orders come in.

Find retailer address on their website & look at it on google streetview. If it's just a private house then avoid. I would.

It is better if you can to buy your gear in person from a local retailer then you can see what you are buying & not far to take it back if it goes faulty.

Not sure that's actually possible, strictly speaking as G.O. offer a price match less a further 10% discount.
Has to be identical Brand/model/colour/size, of course, but I guess that's the only true way of comparing any item v price.

And yes, I'm aware that a lot of stuff in G.O. is not available elsewhere, so a price match isn't always possible (Own Brands and/or slight model difference specific/exclusive to G.O.)

That's not to say a similar item costing less elsewhere isn't a good thing, I'll give you that!

So, I went to Attwoolls as suggested. Prices good, selection excellent, and customer service outstanding, ordered late last night and it is due to be delivered by courier on Monday. Couldn't ask for more so many thanks for the recommendation!!

My poor experience... campingworld. Despite promising to despatch the next day I waited 3 weeks (with multiple phone calls chasing during this time and promises from them...) and got absolutely nowhere. To their credit they cancelled immediately when I called today and refunded me my money, but I can't say I would attempt to buy from them again.
