Evaporative cooling relies on a continuous supply of cool water & the system is used in hot dry countries installed in buildings as a cheaper to run alternative to proper refrigerated aircon.
Portable units are not really effective because of limited supply of water that will increase in temperature until it is ineffective. Also more suited for use in conditions of low humidity such as Australia which you don't often get in UK/Europe coastal regions.
Portable ones don't work well because warm air off the condenser is ducted outside, so warm air is sucked in the room to replace it.
There is a small split system though called "Cool my Camper" I've read about, have a look at that.
We are currently on the Costa Brava, the site has been having intermittant electric cut offs and some rapid reconnections one of which seems to have blown an internal fuse in our aircon unit, engineer hopefully coming this week because its getting hot now!
We've been forced to try out the Transcool (purchased at the Oct 2018 show) prematurely and have to say we are unimpressed, it's basically a directional cold air fan that has a tank of water in it where you can add ice to cool it a bit more and in this heat isn't doing a lot. When I think back at the show in October we were in a warm hall feeling this cold blast from this fan and thought 'this is good' but really was it worth £300 and the answer is certainly not!!!
Might be useful at a warm easter in the uk but that's about it, my advice dont buy it.
We find this works very well in the back of the car for the dogs, this is solely the purpose of buying it.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
That wasn’t the impression we were given at the show, thought would be ideal for cool blast in awning but won’t be any better than large fan we have now, certainly not worth £300 even for cooling dogs!!
Duped!!

Well I’m afraid we will have to agree to disagree, if it makes the journey for the dogs more comfortable then it’s worth it.
Possibly a little naive to believe anyone telling you it’s going to make any difference in an awning, even a porch awning!
