I'm a solo camper looking to buy a new cooker/ stove. I have a single burner at the moment and have been pondering on whether to purchase a double gas burner or a Trianga cooking system. Has anybody had any experience with the Trianga system ?any help offered please.
I have a trangia 27 and a trangia triangle.
Great for slow cooking. Getting the simmer right is an art though. Fuel available everywhere. Only one burner though. It seems bulky but you have everything you need, pots etc. It also works better the higher the wind gets hence the name storm cooker.
We only use a two burner for car camping because of the size of the gas bottle. For solo use I also have two petrol stoves which are better in cold weather than the trangia. One has an adapter for use in a trangia and can also use small gas cans. If I see the need for a twin I usually take the trangia 27 and the triangle as I am carrying the fuel anyway.

Thank you Ewen for reply, I do take a car or van when I go camping, I suppose the sensible answer is a double burner. Originally the idea was to cook and eat out of mess tins, but I do at times find it challenging. Thanks for the info.
We got our double burner from Aldi and bought a tank of patio gas as the cylinders are lighter. I think most are made in the same factory in China anyway.
Unless you are going abroad there isn't much use for camping gaz. It is more expensive and it is butane which doesn't burn as well. Propane is better.
You will also need a rubber hose, jubilee clips and a regulator to suit the cylinder you have

We use a Trangia 25 plus Triangle for most of our cooking. There's a little gas stove for coffee or if a bit of extra oomph is needed.
We used a twin burner for a while but the kit above takes up less space & you can buy the fuel from any supermarket in France.

Yup. We will be taking our triangle and 27 to France next year as the fuel is everywhere. The only change we have made is to replace the trangia simmer caps with esbit ones. They have a wee handle. I have been using trangias for almost 40 years. Nothing much can go wrong with them and they make nice outdoor heaters if you aren't bothered about burning a full bottle of meths.

Well Fenwanderer, If you mainly go camping in a vehicle, a double burner offers you loads of options. A meths stove would be a good back up. Should the weather turn foul, a trangia comes into its own as you can cook or brew up no matter how wild and windy it is. There are cheap versions sold in supermarkets but you might well find a good trangia on ebay.
