Recently purchased a 3 year old swift caravan with fixed bed, using the "cutting edge comfort" Duvalay matress. Problem is a definite and noticeable slope, the matress is higher along the wall side. As you can imagine this doesn't make for a great nights sleep - one of us lying on a slope, the other getting pushed toward (& I feel soon to be over) the edge of the bed. Contacted Duvalay who said they don't deal with 2nd hand customers, and perhaps someone heavy slept on it - not the best ad for them! Anyone had similar problems?
Depends how much use the bed got & the type of use. If the mattress has had it then get a new one. It's a small price to pay for a good night's sleep. Are you sure caravan is level. Do you check with a spirit level?
Yes caravan is level. The matress would cost over £400 to replace, and given the rest of the caravan is in excellent condition I feel there is definitely a problem with this matress. Perhaps adding to my annoyance is that our old caravan which we sold last month had the most wonderfully comfortable bed - and it was 26 years old!!
I have exactly the same problem. We have a 2015 Swift Elegance and one of the selling points of the van was the 'amazing' Duvalay mattress.
It is the start of the third year having used the van for about 50 nights since purchase new.
The mattress definitely slopes from the wall side inwards. I have checked the level of the bed below the mattress which appears level.
The mattress itself seems to have a firm section (roughly 9" or so) running down both side but is noticeably 'spongy' further towards the centre of the mattress. Having now had many nights of discomfort and back pain, we now sleep on the very edge of either side of the mattress which is just tolerable.
I have approached my dealer about it who said there was nothing that could be done as it was over the one year warranty period. However, I have just spoken to Swift who told me it should still be covered under warranty and to get my dealer to put in a claim.
Just to add to difficulties, my dealer no longer services caravans and so we are also left looking for another dealer.
Sneachd have you got anywhere with your claim as yet?

And there-in lies your answer my friend but unfortunately not the solution!
Almost everything manufactured today is comparative rubbish, it's a fact of life I'm afraid.
I had the same problem a few years ago.
I dumped the 34kg sprung mattress and bought a lightweight foam one.
Placing several extra wooden slats down the centre of the bed (on top of and at right angles to the existing slatted base) helped to prevent the centre of the mattress from sagging in the centre.
It wasn't the perfect solution but it helped!
Vin Blanc
------------- Now retired from active caravanning. - really miss it!
Thanks for responses & suggestions.
Didn't think we'd get anywhere with the dealer as it's a 2014 caravan, but for sure it's not fit for purpose, so will contact them.
Husband suggested placing a plank of wood along the higher side of matress with our sons old weights arranged on top (about 50kgs worth) and leaving in place for some time to see if it would balance out, but I fear that could just finish off the mattress completely or have us tipping to the other side!
Would be interested to see how you get on, gemma27
The caravan was bought from a dealer therefore you should be covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If the mattress is not fit for purpose then the dealer is obliged to replace it. If they resist contact your nearest CAB for advice.
We have the same problem 2015 swift been used about 40 times at the most in contact with duvalay about it will keep informed how we get on caravan was new when we got it
Good Luck!! We've just about given up, mainly due to frustration and lack of time, although the problem is as bad or worse than ever. Don't really know where to go with this now, but will be very interested to hear how you get on.

Your contract is with the dealer and not Duvalay. You are wasting your time trying to deal with Duvalay. We learnt the hard way when we bought direct from them and then found out that the after sales customer service is absolutely zilch!
Shame about the mattress but on another note do you really want to use a second hand mattress. If you really think about it would you buy a second hand mattress for your bed at home? I would be inclined to buy a new nattress.
