Hi there.
Does anyone know if it's ok to store 12 volt batteries in a shed outside? Shed lets in the wind a bit but is waterproof. Also My battery which is connected to my solar panels has now been moved outside. I've put it in a waterproof container and drilled small holes in the container for ventilation but I've noticed on the gauge which used to read 12.4 has now gone down to 11.4. Any advice appreciated. Thanks. Suelou
As Fleck2 says, battery should be ok outside, but given voltage, that isn't charging. Do you use a charge controller between panel and battery? Also, what output is the panel you're using?
Thanks for your replies folks. Thing is, I don't know the answers to your questions re charge controller etc. I am totally ignorant about this stuff. My daughter died and I inherited her off grid cabin which I am trying to do up in her memory and the panels and batteries were already there. There are three boxes on the wall all connected up and the lights work. Sorry to be so vague... it's very difficult finding someone who can help without them actually seeing it. I think it's an old system. I might go to the place that sells caravans in my area and take photographs with me. Thanks again
Try getting the user manuals by googling the make and model numbers followed by pdf
It might just be a setting wrong, try too disconnecting the power and reconnecting it, the microprocessor might have crashed or locked out.
