I am looking for 2 Single Self Inflatable Mats to put on top of my Outwell Posada Single Camp Bed's. Not too sure what to get but have been looking at the Exped MegaMat however are they really worth the extra expense over other SIMS? and which other would you prefer?

We got a couple of the ThermaRest DreamTime XL's back in 2008, I did whince at the price at the time, but they have been brilliant.

Was considering getting a double camped but they don't do one large enough.

Another option would have been to zip tie two of the Outwell Posada Single XL camp beds together, not sure that would work though, although the size would be fine.

We've had our Exped mats for about 5 years now and they are faultless. Hard to say how a cheaper brand would have faired as they don't exactly get a hard life. They get stored flat in a nice warm room and are never rolled up for longer than is absolutely necessary.
I've got a Thermarest pad that does get abused a lot more and it has always been great too.
My Alpkit pads are decent but the finish isn't quite as good as Exped or Thermarest.
If funds allow I would stick with either Thermarest or Exped just for peace of mind. If I had to replace ours now it would either be with Megamats or 3D Mondokings, going as long and wide as my tent allowed.

I do wonder whether the megamats are maybe a little overkill when combined with camp beds... although I hasten to add that I have neither used one nor seen one up close. They look to me like they are best suited for on the floor, though I do know some folk on here do lay them on camp beds, and do seem to be delighted with such a set up.

Have you considered the "next one down"? The Exped SIM COMFORT 10 LW?

Now that, I can recommend, for laying on top of a camp bed. And I believe there's a small saving to be made, when compared to the megamat.

See this related thread Here... for some close-up demo pics.

We initially used as separate singles (with fitted sheets), but have since found out the sheet isn't needed, as they stay in place within the camp bed frame. Mega comfy (Don't over-inflate... find your own personal comfort level/amount of air).

We have now started pushing them together as a double, holding the lot in place with a double fitted/elasticated sheet (Sheepskin mattress protector in the winter, but same effect!) There is no parting due partly to the perfect fit, and partly as we still used the sheet, and there's no bulge/ridge along the centre line. You don't feel the bar(s). If anything, there's a very slight rounded "V" down the centre, due to the rounded side edges of the mat, but I'm a fussy bugger, and it really doesn't concern us.

A really good fit, as the pics prove... although that was more luck than judgement on my part!

Mine are G.O. camp beds though. Can't comment on your Posada's, as I ran out of money!!

I have the 10cm Exped Megamat and also the Outwell Dreamboat. I would say the difference is marginal. Might be worth a look: http://amzn.to/2sHgjb1

I have a megamat, I love it, I would recommend it to anyone one. But if I was wanting something to go on top of a campbed I would get something cheaper and probably not with the same depth, I would have thought 5 - 7.5 cm would be enough.

I will stick to my megamat on the floor (until I can't get up off the floor )
