We have been to Highbridge Caravans this weekend to look at the Air Awnings.
We liked both the Kampa Classic Air Expert and the Rally Air Pro. The salesman said that the Classic had the stronger material of the two.
We were just wondering which is the most popular model which you all have bought and how often would you have to reinflate the tubes say for a 2/3 week stay?
Also they didn't have the Kampa Ace Air on display- any thought on this model too????
Thanks everyone, all thoughts and opinions gratefully received.
I have purchased the 2017 kampa air 390 pro plus and it's perfect
I went with the intention of buying the classic as it looked more of a tradional full awning, but once I was inside it felt quite dark to me
So I decided to head over to the frontier and the new 390 pro plus - I loved the light airy feel inside, bright and also cosy with the optional curtains.
I have only used it once for a full week, I inflated it on a cold day ( so quick to pump up) on the last day It was still rock solid tubes.
I'm genuinely very impressed with the awning, good luck in your search, hope you find the one that ticks all your boxes
------------- I love camping and caravanning x x x
I recently bought the 390 Rally Air Pro after using another (cheaper) air awning for 3 years.
I am seriously impressed with this model. It's light and airy inside and seems more spacious than my other awning. More important for me: with the limpet system the sides can be secured to the van. It's also easier to secure the mud flaps so that the whole awning is dog proof.
It took a while to inflate with the electric pump, but once up was rock solid.
It's heavier than my previous model but strangely enough is easier to push through the awning rail because of this.
I'm really happy with my purchase.
We bought the Kampa classic air expert and are actually sitting in it now. Great air awning. We don't find it dark at all. Material the first "breathable" material apparently and is more like the traditional awning/material. Pump up when we put it up which is really easy as just one point inflation. Never pumped up again during a 2 week stay. We are in Cornwall and had the last 9 days of terrific winds and rain and she never moved and never let in one drop of water. We did buy the add on "conservatory" which is great. I believe Towsure are giving this or an annex away free during June. I had a email yesterday. I can highly recormend this.
Wow, thanks everyone!
It was the salesman who said about re inflating due to variable outside temperatures, so it's great to hear that is not a problem at all
Looks like we will be spending some money this weekend then
I'd seriously do a bit of research on air awnings before ivesting in one, I keep reading on different forums of loads of people having issues with bladders bursting and ripping through the canvas.
i dont want to burst your bubble, but these awning are very expensive to buy and can appear to have a very short shelf life with little or no after sales support
For the record i have a kampa rally pro (poled version) which is a great awning, so i'm not anti Kampa
I've got a Kampa Rally Air Pro 330 that I've had since 2014. It's seen a fair bit of use including a couple of severe storms (hurricane Katie was one) and it's still going strong. I've had no problems with needing to top up the air and we've done some 2 week stints. Can't comment on the difference in fabric with the classic but I've been happy with the Pro.
We have an air porch awning as well though not Kampa and have used that many times with no problems. I think you make your choice and either like air awnings or not. Personally we have had both and would never buy anything else now but a air one.
We have the Kampa Fiesta Air Pro - we originally wanted a bedroom extension and the Rally didn't have it, although they do now. Never had to blow it up again, and it's been through 2 mega storms without any issues, while pole tents and awnings all around were down by morning.
We have had a Kampala rally air pro 260 for one year and over this period have used it seven times in Hot dry weather cold frosty weather and wet weather. In the good dry weather this awning is excellent but in cold weather condensation has been a major problem. We are at the moment using the awning in the rain and yes it is leaking badly.I have spoken to several people on site with the same awning and they also have experienced similar problems. The good news is we have been advised that leaking will stop over a period of time the question is HOW MUCH TIME. My advice would be do not believe every thing you read in sales brochures
