Has anyone experienced Thetford toilet issues, mine are listed as follow:-
1) Occasionally will not flush.
2) Occasionally the top tank leaks into the main bowl.
3) The red LED light indicating that the toilet is full, has been showing for several months now.
I much preferred the manual flush system which Thetford once supplied to the Caravan market, but I guess progress has deemed that these are no longer available.
Hi Peter.
Don't know about items 1 or 2 but number 3 is a common fault.
there are two possibilities:-
1) There is a small float inside the holding tank which raises as the tank is filled. This can stick in the "up" position (particularly if the tank has been shaken too much when rinsing ). You will need to empty the tank, open the top flap and release the float using either a gloved hand or short stick. OR
2) At the rear of the compartment there is a small circuit board containing a reed switch which is operated by the magnet in the float. This switch can fail in which case you will need to replace the circuit board at a cost of about £12/£13. It is a simple job to carefully pull up the board a replace with the new.
If the light stays on when the cassette is removed this is the most likely cause.
Try the float first because it is free !!
Good luck, DaveS1
Thanks DaveS1
I will try the easy route first, as you suggested, hopefully this will cure the light issue,if it doesn't I will see if I can buy a reed switch for the PCB but this might be as expensive as a new PCB, I will post my findings when I return from touring the Lake District and Scotland towards the end of July.
