Does anyone know of a comfortable recliner that the back and the leg rest are independent? I like to read with my feet up without the back rest going down as well.
What about something like the Dukdalf chairs and footrests? A bit on the pricey-side but they last forever and you get the best of both worlds (chair, reclining chair and relaxer). I think Westfield do something similar, as well. The frames are lightweight and they're quick and easy to pack down.
Beat me to it...... Dukdalf all the way for us. May be a bit pricey but they last for years. Our original ones are now 15 years old - we now use them in the garden and have replaced them with two more Dukdalfs which are a bit lighter and fold flatter for caravan use.
We have folding chairs with high backs (Outwell xxxx hills or something) which fold down quite slim. With them, we use little folding aluminium slatted stools - they work as foot stools, stools for sitting at table, and side tables. Multipurpose - wouldn't leave home without them. Cost about £10 each from various sources, The Range even had them earlier this year.
We have Dukdalf chairs and footrests and after 14 years the footrest bar on one of the chairs has sheared away. I have done a repair but would like to replace them with new ones but it looks like they are no longer made. Googling Duckdalf chairs only comes up with used chairs on ebay or websites where they are now out of stock except for one or two sites like the link above. It would be interesting to know if the do actually have them in stock as they are now as rare as hens teeth.

We bought our new ones last year from here - they are branded Dorema but made by Dukdalf. They weren't listed on the website at the time ( or now) but they were in stock and discounted for CC members.

We have a Dukdalf (we did have two but my husband drove over one) with a foot rest. I use the other foot rest on a similar chair. This is what I find really frustrating, I struggle to get in or out of the chair when the foot rest is in place and it keeps moving. I can't sit in the chair and then put the foot rest on. This is why I want an all in one recliner. I know they are made as I had one which was quite old and needed rewebbing and I think we left it in the roof when we moved. It was too big and heavy to take in the van anyway.
When we had Dukdalf chairs (we now have Lafuma recliners and Westfield chairs), I used to pull the footrest in and under with my heel, when I wanted to get out of the chair.
What about going for whatever comfy chair takes your fancy, then taking something like this for when you want to put your feet up? Doubles as another seat, if required. I've seen them better-priced than in the link, by the way.
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately that cross bar is not designed for the Aspen model.

Thanks for the link. I will email and ask if they are in stock but what is more interesting is the number of chairs that do have crossbars below the seat. If they are wide enough it may be possible to use the footstool with a different brand of chair

Thanks for the link lidds0 but I am a little concerned that some of the chairs mentioned are totally different in build to the Aspen and I just dont see how the same cross bar will fit all of those different models. Some of those models are also listed for a different sampler stick that is definitely not suitable for the Aspen. The postage is also very high at 18 euros from Holland so we have decided to put up with my repair for the remainder of this season and invest in new chairs next year. Thanks for searching for me though.

Thanks. It appears there isn't really anything other than a separate foot rest.

Have you considered fishing chair beds - though I guess your feet would always be up. We have them to sleep on, but with the back raised they are pretty comfortable chairs too. Bit on the bulky side though
