I'm considering the Weber Q1200 but I am unsure if I can attach a large campingaz bottle to it. I know that Weber don't supply the hose / regulator kit but I don't fancy carrying around a patio gas bottle either, should we go camping in France. I do know that the BBQ is available in France so I am guessing that the adaptor will be available over the Channel. Is the issue butane / propane? I wouldn't have thought so.
Yes you can. If it runs on the small bottles. Nozzle
Remember it is a left hand thread, clockwise to loosen
If you already run on patio gas then it could be as simple as buying a 28mb camping gas regulator and removing the patio gas regulator then you should be good to go.
Thanks for the replies and the link. I didn't realise there were third party options available. Got a price match from Go Outdoors so it's now just under £200. Not sure if I need the stand or not.
Actually I think that Weber do,do the conversion but the price is very steep. Two words of caution. Firstly the Weber q120 I have got had a regulator on a length of pipe to fit the small and very expensive gas canisters. It might be that it is now a combined regulator gas valve that you couldn't convert it you would need to buy one of these Look at the bottom of the page
The other warning is you do have the rubber tube to the regulator. The nut is very tight. Really you would be best if you removed the valve from bbq to work on the valve.
They are fantastic devices for cooking and worth the money imho but no one is saying they are cheap.
Really easy to get the valve out, a couple of screws and the whole control assembly comes away. Remove the control knob (pull off), remove lock thread holding valve into the plastic holder. Put the valve in a bench vice (a must) and undo the nut (left hand thread so clockwise).
I also removed the silly gas canister holder.
Mine came with a stand which is excellent as it is light and easy to assemble in seconds. Would highly recommend it.
P.S. link only added to show the product, can't remember where I bought it from.
