Does anyone have any experience of the waterproof roof bags as a means of storage/transportation whilst camping? I'm driving down to the South of France with my pregnant wife and 4 kids so we need to keep the inside of the car as clutter free as possible.
I have a Thule roof box and I will be towing a trailer. The plan is to strap the roof bag to the top of the trailer.
Used one once, leaked like a seive, so make sure everything is wrapped in bin liners and you'll fine. We have since upgraded to a proper roof box, on permanent loan from neighbours! Much better!
We used to use a roof bag. It was always fine and never let water in. We used to put a flat picnic table and the kitchen stand on the bottom and then lighter stuff sleeping bags etc on top. We found it better than a roof box because once we had arrived on site we just took it off the roof and folded it up.
