My partners friend has an awning that rolls up into a bag and stays on the side of the caravan, I keep googling and can't find anything, where do I look?
Also I have been steered away from the dorema awnings by the sales people at work as apparently customer service is rubbish any experience?

Are these the type of roll out caravan awnings you are looking for?

Never needed to contact an awning manufacturer, if you have any intial queries it should be directed towards the seller not the manufacturer.
Even the best companies get disgruntled customers.
There were several companies selling the roll out awnings, but they are a bit niche. So deman is not huge.
If you did a poll on here a fair percentage would not want that weight hanging off one side of the van whilst towing.
Puts extra stress on the awning rails which may cause leaks and the extra wind resistance with the weight.
And the higher centre of gravity due to the awning.
Try fold out or roll out awnings.

Royal Windsor is one make of awning which stores in a bag on the awning rail. I've had one in the past and it's exactly the same as the other 260/390 awnings available other than the storage aspect.
I'd use rail stoppers if you intended leaving it on permanently, they'd prevent it sliding out when you're travelling.

I had an Outdoor Reveloution awning a few years ago that was stored in a bag on the awning rail. I found it not as good as l had hoped it would be, it was difficut to roll it all back up into the storage bag in the awning channel given that you were working off a step to reach it and could only access a smal length of bag/rail at a time. I often used to end up taking the whole lot down to pack away which rather defeats the object of having this type of awning in the first place.
After the awning was erected, the top half of the storage bag remained flapping in the wind, giving a drumming sound on the caravan roof rather like tap dancing Seagulls and Wood Pigeons at Dawn, and l was always concerned incase the metal zip parts would scratch and damage the rood of our caravan. It was a fairly poor fit to the sides of the caravan anyway, so after a couple of trips out with it l sold it on cheaply to someone who wanted to make a awning for his trailer tent from it, by cutting away the casing and sewing on a new zip to connect it to the one already installed on the Tent he had.
