Could any please give us a little advice on which Roof box to buy to fit on our Landrover Freelander. 

We will be travelling down to devon in the next few weeks and we will definetly require more packing space. 

 We have friends who used a roof box last year and ended up with most of their clothes flying over the motorway luckily this did'nt cause an accident just alot of embarassment.

this happened beause the roof box got warmed up by the sun and warped that is why you should always put an extra strap around it as this can happen to what ever make you buy. I suggest that a rear entry box (hinged at the front) would be easier for you as you can stand on the back of the car to get the stuff in and out halfords do them for around £100

If you want to carry something else on the roof look at the "ski"/half width boxes.If not then a full width box is better.
If you look at the Thule range they are dual side opening meaning they are easy to fit (most 4x4 are too high to reach without steps)and you can get to either side without having to reach across the car.

boxes flying open shouldnt be a problem now as most boxes are multilocking,ie when you lock the box there is a metal bar inside that shuts against 2/3 catches

ps use sportsbags rather than suitcases as you will cram more in
