Hello campers, I need some advice.
We have a VW Golf SV. It has roof rails that are 100cm apart with a clearance of just, 2cm. We're looking for a rack & frankly I don't want to pay Thule prices.
I've seen a set of Hardcastle bars that may fit but I'm not 100% sure.
Does anyone have a Golf SV (2014+)? If so, what, if any, roof bars do you have?
Thank you.
------------- Want to go camping, want to go camping! Come on warmer weather!!!
Need an air tent!
I'd second steel's advice. Use The Roof Box Company. If you're not sure what on their site will fit give them a call or use the support ticket system, they sorted me out quickly and efficiently a couple of years ago.
Also worth trying Halfords own brand roof bars. We've been using a set for 5 years and have no complaints at all. They're quieter on air noise, in fact, than the Lexus "Aero" bars we had before. Ours are the small square section bars, about 1 cm square in section with universal bar fittings.
These roof bars fit my VW Tiquan and I've carried some seriously heavy weights of timber on them.
They are described as universal so should fit any vehicle with roof bars and at £53.99 have been well worth the cash.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
