Lol thanks for all the advice. I've invested in some compression bags from Ebay that you roll instead of using a hoover. Hopefully that'll help

Unfortunately we can't let pup loose in the car - he tends to bounce off the windows

You could try one of those dog bag things for your dog instead of a cage to transport it. I've seen them on www.pressies4dogs.co.uk, i think the idea is that you zip your dog into it. i've been told they're quite good.

We've used a dog bag for our dog who travelled terribly - would always be sick. With one of these he's enclosed which just seems to make him lie down and sleep and we are also able to pack stuff in around(outside the bag!) him. Must make him feel cosier as he's very very rarely ill now when he travels in it.

Ours is more like this: http://www.roofbox.co.uk/dog-bag/

Maddy has a seat belt which keeps her under control. Takes up no space at all.

Do you know anyone in the Federation or on the Starship Voyager , if so maybe they could transport you to you're chosen site.

You could try doing it you're self , pop the bonnet and see if you can re-route a little plasma from the warp core to the cargo bay.
