Hi just wondered if anyone knows if I can get a camping trailer that does just a bit more. For example I would like something that has a built in kitchen, hob and fridge and perhaps a shower facility etc. I know you can get expensive 4 x4 trwilers but I'm looking for something in between and a bit more than just an empty box on wheels to kart stuff wround. Any help is much appreciated
Thanks

Isn't that usually called a caravan?

How about a "Crossover Camping Vehicle"?

Difficult to help when no budget is mentioned. Google Kip Shelter. I'm guessing you only want to pay a few £100s though, yes? Search teardrop caravan on ebay. You will probably find somebodies unfinished project for cheap enough.

Hi

If you started with just a tidy little lidded trailer, I wouldn't have thought there'd be too much involved in mounting the likes of a stove/kitchen box, so that it could be easily used on-route...and if you kept this "cooker box/chuck box" easily detachable, rather than bolted as an integral part of the trailer, it could be lifted out and used at/in the tent.

For "inspiration" look for images of folding campers/trailer tents, as some have self contained, lift/swing away kitchen units..and Google images of "DIY camp kitchen box" etc..

I could be a nice little project..but I'd keep it simple, versatile(as you'll want to shoehorn something else in later) and robust(no fiddly draw runners etc,as being in a small trailer, it'll have the life bounced out of it..)

Not sure what you picture shower-wise..but a simple gravity fed or a manual pump "solar" shower, for swilling of the kids/boots/dog would be the easiest(...with a pop up loo tent, if you wanted more?)

Edit to add: I've only just noticed that you have a Raclet Solena..so I certainly don't need to be telling you what folding campers have!

Thanks everyone. We're in the middle of swapping to a Holtkamper pyramid tent so just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were for something more than just a trailer.
Thanks

Why not buy a used trailer tent and go from there? You'll get the kitchen built in already

My thought too. The weight would also be balanced properly. Some trailer tents have a solid top with bike racks.
However, OP has already got a tent....

Yep - hence a used one. Ditch the tent part of the trailer, build in a box and anything else you need. You already have a good solid base, decent weight loading, usually an A frame, decent sized wheels so should be convertible more easily than most

Just a quick browse on ebay (under "camping trailers") brings up loads of tidy trailers (some lidded) and for not that much money.

So buying an old, cheap(scrap?) trailer tent/folding camper, just because it may have an (ageing) stove and sink cupboard(which may or may not be usable?)and having to strip away and dispose of all of the rest, whilst having to make good/patch up the main trailer body,as well as doing your conversion, just seems to be making work for yourself...
