Apologies in advance but I need some advice - gotta get my trailer bought for the half term break. I am really unsure about size - we have a Focus hatch with roof box and 2 kids. Tent is a big Vango 800 and we have all the usual stuff like sleeping bags, windbreaks, pushchair (still), cooker, chairs, FRIDGE etc etc.
My benchmark trailer was the Caddy 500/535 but having seen one it seems so small but the next size up (600?) is almot as big as the car ! I am finding it hard to work out what will fit.
What do people on here use ? Last weekend we just took two cars - not a permanent solution though.
Cheers
Dave

Hi
Our first trailer was wooden and 4' x 3' - just about got everything back home after first expedition (bought a gazebo whilst away!)
Second trailer is a Brenderup 4' x 6' with lid - going to be extended to 2' + tall next week.
My advice would be buy the largest you can afford. Trailer suppliers will tell you what you can pull, but bear in mind you would probably pull a caravan!
I may have my trailer 8' tall! (Hubby not going with me to have trailer extended!)
Hope this helps

Hi Dave,
I was intent on buying either the erde 122 or daxara 127 off ebay, fortunately one afternoon, whilst suffering from a distinct bout of boredom, I measured out the 122 on the kitchen floor & used a combination of 2 walls, 3 chair backs & an ironing board to mark out it's size .......
I took three steps backwards, looked at the "simulated" trailer & looked at my mountain of camping gear ............... the rest is history, I thought, forget about the 122 & I opted for an Erde 141 instead.
As mentioned above, buy the biggest you can afford (within reason) but check your handbook for your car's towing weight restrictions!
Cheers,
Graham.
