Hi can anyone recommend the best leisure battery to use for our conway crusader 2012 folding camper with a view to having a motor mover fitted in the future
Also any further info anyone has to keep it charged
Thanks
Elaine
Charging depends on where your unit is stored. If at home, best kept on a smart charger like CTEK if practicable and safe, as this can be (semi) permanent.
In storage solar panel with controller/regulator would be best if security allows.
Failing these its remove the battery to Garage and keep charged there.

We have it at home and have the use of the mains connector fromthe house x
Perfect, just connect a smart-charger to it. If you can get hold of one, the Aldi or Lidl ones are very good and much cheaper than the CTEK ones. We use an Aldi one.
I would imagine the best leisure battery to be one of the Lithium ion versions that are now available, much lighter than Lead Acid, and arguably will hold more charge.
I have lots of lithium packs, not sure i would like one in the caravan though.
Unlike lead acid batteries lithium ones dont like being on charge 24/7. They need a charger that will charge at the correct voltage and amps and then the charger powers off completely. It wont like being held at a standby voltage.
The battery then needs to discharge a reasonable amount before being charged again.
Using solar could upset the charging cycle, if it gets cloudy and the voltage drops below the chargers minimum and then the sun comes out again will it restart the charge cycle on a battery that was almost 100% anyway?
Think i will stick to something that can take a bit of charging abuse.
