hi - thanks cliff brown for the heads up about Aldi caravan/camping equipment.
Wondering if either of the pegs would be suitable to use with an awning on a gravel pitch?

The site we stay at has renewed the pitches with gravel and as we will be leaving the awning up from June through to September we need to make it as secure as possible.

Another question, for the flooring we have a ground sheet and then use foam camping tiles and then a rug on top - will this be ok or do we need something else?

Many thanks for your help and advise.

I use long screws (from screwfix) with penny washers as the heads, knock them in using the the lump hammer and use drill to get them out. I find it quicker, I don't bend as many pegs and find them more secure than rock pegs. Your proposals re the awning floor should be ok can't see that the site would have any objections. I have noticed that some caravanners don't anchor down the mudwalls when using the awning, as you will be on a long seasonal pitch you do need to ensure you pegging is as secure as it can be including the mudwalls.

I would do as Geoff suggests, and look at different lengths, and gauges,of zinc plated catch screws.
Look at 160mm X 10mm, or 12mm screws.

That’s great thank you both for your replies.
I shall look for the long screws and use them.

I use these they are brilliant for all sorts of surfaces .... just use a cordless drill to screw them in or take them out.

No more bashing away with lump, or any other sort of, hammer.
I realise they show a hammer to put hardstanding pegs in ... but I have always (so far) found that they will drill in, just like any of their other pegs.

Hi - just to say thanks for all the advice- we had a variety of pegs (such as extra long for the corners) and the awning was secure. No problems.
Another season over ☹️ But thinking about next year already!
